Una tempesta in un bicchier d'acqua -> A storm in a teacup

 Ita

Once upon a time, there was a young inventor named Lily who had been working tirelessly on a new device for months. She had poured all her time and energy into this project, convinced that it would revolutionize the industry. Finally, after many sleepless nights and endless cups of coffee, she had completed the prototype.

Excited to showcase her invention, Lily brought it to a conference where she hoped to find investors. However, during the presentation, one of the attendees pointed out a major flaw in her design. Lily was devastated. All her hard work had seemingly been for nothing.

Over the next few days, she couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment. But then, as she took a step back and looked at the bigger picture, she realized that the criticism was just a small setback in a much larger process. It would seem that the process has come a long way forward and this is probably a storm in a teacup. She decided to use the feedback to improve her invention and make it even better.

With renewed determination, Lily went back to work, pouring over her design and making improvements. Eventually, she presented the updated version to a new group of investors and this time, her invention was met with great enthusiasm. She secured the funding she needed and her invention went on to become a huge success, changing the industry forever.

Looking back, Lily realized that the setback she faced was just a minor blip in the grand scheme of things. It was easy to get bogged down in the small details, but it was important to keep the bigger picture in mind. After all, sometimes it's the setbacks that push us forward and lead us to even greater success.

Una mela al giorno toglie il medico di torno -> An apple a day keeps the doctor away

 Ita

As Mr. President was walking through the garden, he heard a familiar voice saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." He turned to see his British fellow member, who was munching on a juicy red apple.

Mr. President smiled and walked towards him. "Ah, I see you're taking good care of your health," he said.

The British member chuckled. "Yes, indeed. We British often say that 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away.' It's an old saying that's been passed down for generations."

Mr. President nodded. "It's a wise saying. In fact, I remember my grandmother telling me the same thing when I was a child."

The British member continued, "Apples are packed with nutrients and antioxidants that can boost our immune system and reduce the risk of many diseases. They're also a great source of fiber, which is essential for our digestive health."

Mr. President agreed. "It's amazing how something as simple as an apple can have so many health benefits."

As they walked and talked, Mr. President couldn't help but think about the importance of good health. He realized that taking care of one's health was not only important for oneself but also for the well-being of society as a whole.

From that day on, Mr. President made a conscious effort to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into his diet. He even started carrying an apple with him wherever he went, as a reminder of the wise words of his British friend.

Meglio prevenire che curare -> An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

 Ita

Eng

Once upon a time, there was a small country named Kairi. It was located in the midst of two giant countries, Goliath and Titan. Kairi was peaceful, and its citizens lived happily, but they always feared being caught in a conflict between Goliath and Titan. One day, the King of Kairi called a meeting with the leaders of Goliath and Titan to discuss their concerns.

At the meeting, the King of Kairi reminded them of the old adage that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," and suggested that they should sign a peace treaty to avoid any future conflicts. Goliath and Titan agreed to the idea and signed the treaty.

Years went by, and the people of Kairi were grateful for the peace treaty as they continued to live without any conflicts. Meanwhile, Goliath and Titan were facing several internal and external issues, which led to a war between them. Kairi remained neutral during the war and continued to flourish.

After years of fighting, Goliath and Titan decided to end the war and signed a peace treaty. However, the war had caused irreversible damage to both countries, and it took them years to rebuild their economies and infrastructure.

In the end, Goliath and Titan realized that the old adage was true. If they had listened to the King of Kairi and signed a peace treaty earlier, they could have avoided the war and the massive destruction it caused. Kairi, on the other hand, was a living example of how peace and prevention can lead to prosperity and happiness.

The lesson of the story is that peace and prevention are always better than war and cure. The old adage holds true in international relations as well.

Perfettamente/Stare bene -> As right as rain

 Ita

Sophie had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby for months. She had prepared everything, from the nursery to her hospital bag. When the day finally came, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, whom she named Lily. However, Sophie's joy was short-lived as she soon fell ill.

The doctors kept her in the hospital for several days, trying to determine the cause of her illness. Sophie was worried about her baby, who had to stay in the nursery while she was being treated. She missed her little one terribly, and it was difficult for her to rest and recover without her.

One day, Sophie's doctor came in to see her and said, "You'll be as right as rain as soon as you are back in your own home with your baby."

Sophie took those words to heart and focused on getting better so she could take Lily home. She was determined to be the best mother she could be, and nothing was going to stand in her way.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Sophie was discharged from the hospital and was able to take Lily home. As soon as they walked through the door, Sophie felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She was home, and she was with her baby.

Sophie's illness slowly began to fade away, and she felt like herself again. She spent her days caring for Lily and watching her grow. She realized that being a mother was the most important job she could ever have, and she was grateful for every moment she spent with her little girl.

Years later, Sophie would look back on that time in the hospital and remember the doctor's words. She knew that as long as she had her baby by her side, she could weather any storm. And she did, with grace and strength, because that's what mothers do.

Non si può obbligare nessuno agire controvoglia -> You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

 Ita

All'improvviso, fulmine a ciel sereno -> Bolt from the blue

 Ita

Eng

Once upon a time, the world was struck by a pandemic. It came as a bolt from the blue in 2020, and it changed everything. People were forced to stay at home, wear masks, and practice social distancing. Everything seemed to come to a halt, and the world felt like it was in a standstill. But, despite all the hardship, people did their best to keep going.

As time went on, the world slowly began to adapt. Companies started to work from home, schools switched to online learning, and people found new ways to connect with each other. It wasn't easy, but everyone tried their best.

Now, in 2023, the world is still dealing with the pandemic. But, there is hope. Vaccines have been developed, and people are slowly starting to get vaccinated. Restrictions are being lifted, and life is starting to return to some semblance of normalcy.

Everyone is cautiously optimistic that the worst is behind us. Let us hope the pandemic disappears for good, and that we can all return to a world where we can hug our loved ones, travel freely, and enjoy all the simple pleasures of life.

Tagliare i ponti -> Burn bridges

 Ita

John had worked for the company for ten years. One day, he couldn't take it anymore and announced his resignation. But, he also insulted his boss in front of the entire staff. Everyone was shocked. His colleagues knew he was unhappy, but they didn't expect him to burn his bridges like that. John's boss was furious, and he made sure John knew it. John regretted his outburst, but it was too late. He had burned his bridges, and he knew it. He realized that he had let his emotions get the best of him and that he had made a huge mistake. John learned a valuable lesson that day, one that he would never forget.

La quiete prima della tempesta -> Calm before the storm

 Ita

Terminò proprio in tempo.

Eng

It was a beautiful day in the small coastal town of Harborview. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and the ocean sparkled in the distance. As John walked through the streets, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Things seemed relatively calm at the moment, but he thought this was probably the calm before the storm.

John had lived in Harborview his entire life, and he knew the signs. The air was still, the seagulls had stopped squawking, and there was an eerie silence that hung over the town. He walked faster, feeling the need to get home before the storm hit.

As he rounded the corner onto his street, he saw his neighbor, Mrs. Jenkins, frantically nailing boards over her windows. "John!" she shouted, waving him over. "You need to do the same! There's a hurricane coming!"

John's heart sank. He had heard the rumors, but he had hoped they were just that – rumors. He ran to his house and started frantically nailing boards over his windows and securing loose objects in his yard. As he worked, the wind began to pick up, and the sky turned an ominous shade of gray.

He finished just in time. The storm hit with a vengeance, the wind howling and rain pouring down in sheets. John huddled in his living room, listening to the sounds of the storm outside. He heard trees snapping, roofs being ripped off, and the sound of glass breaking.

As he looked around at the destruction, he thought about the calm before the storm. He realized that life was like that sometimes. Things might seem peaceful and calm, but there was always the potential for chaos and destruction. It was up to us to be prepared for whatever came our way.
